• Hired by the World Resources Institute thinktank in Washinton, D.C. in 1988 to focus on natural climate solutions and the first corporate carbon offset project.

• Founded the first U.S. climate change business risk consultancy in 1991, and worked with many of the first companies to respond to climate change. Some companies would send their employees to our offices for a 2-day series of business and climate change briefings using an enormous Powerpoint deck. At that time, the business and climate change topic could be assembled and communicated in that way. That is no longer the case.

• Have worked with companies, NGOs, and national and international agencies around the world. In the U.S. clients have ranged from the electric utility PacifiCorp and Nike to Stonyfield Farm and United Technologies, supporting everything from carbon footprinting and carbon offsets to carbon price modeling and scenario planning.

• Member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change when it was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007

• Most recently as Director of Climate Risk for the global risk firm of DNV based in Oslo, Norway.

• As a Visiting Scholar teaching Business and Climate Change at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
